Have you ever wondered why foot flippers are heavy and tend to break? It's because foot pockets add extra weight for no extra blade area and add two main areas of weakness. The heel pocket or heel strap often tears. The blade, which must be thicker and heavier to extend unsupported from the foot pocket, often breaks near the toes. These problems are worse as foot flippers are often made from cheap materials. If you want your fins to be light and tough, they should be made from polyurethane and fit on your legs, not on your feet. Read on to learn why...
